would a cake/ cupcakes [homemade] be expired…?

hmm so it’s my bf’s bday on the 4th jan [sunday].. n we’re going to tahoe on Saturday at like 7am? i want to surprise him with somekind of bday cake or cupcakes.. instead of buying it, which i thought the icings might melt or get messed up during the way [would it melt? its a 3-5 hours drive], i thought maybe i can bake cupcakes on friday night? or on saturday before 7am.. but the problem is.. i want to give it to him on Sunday night… at like 12?.. do you know if the cupcakes would be okay by then? would it expire since eggs are included in the cupcakes? if i do bring it, should i put it in the fridge over night or leave it out on the table? pls help? i need help asap. and if anyone know any good bakery with birthday cakes somewhere on NORTH lake tahoe,CA.. can you pls tell me the info [name?address?phone#?]? i tried searching it… nothing came up to me..

make the cupcakes or cake like you were planning, and use a buttercream icing on them. You can seal them in a plastic tupperware style container and they will be fine for Sunday night. I’ve been doing cakes for 30 years, and I’m very familiar with them! Eggs baked into a cake won’t expire. I would consider putting everything in the fridge, and take it out about an hour before serving. Happy Birthday to your friend!
