Will roads be close so I cant leave South Lake Tahoe?
This is the report for tomorrows weather….
SUNDAY…Snow. Highs 23 to 33 higher elevations…35 to 45 lower elevations. Snow accumulation up to 22 inches. South winds 15 to 30 mph with local gusts to 60 mph.
Most likely roads will be randomly closed everywhere around Northern California. The valley is expecting somewhere around 2 inches of rain, which translates into several feet of snow…plus winds are expected to gust as high as 80 mph, and snow will be blowing everywhere, causing complete white-out conditions…try calling cal trans before you leave to check the latest road conditions…
call 1-800-427-7623 for latest highway conditions, or if possible check http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roadlt for current highway conditions around Lake Tahoe and Truckee, or http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi to look at conditions on a specific highway.
if at all possible I suggest you stay another night in Lake Tahoe for your own safety…maybe even try to call Lake Tahoes local National Weather Service forecast office in Reno at (775) 673-8100, I got that number off their web page http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/rev/ and here is another good webpage for the general Lake Tahoe region weather http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=CAZ072
